Thank goodness, hearing the weather forecast we've been worried about you guys all day, so happy to hear you've made it. Well done and our thoughts are with you a this emotional time
Well done......seems an understatement to say after what you have achieved after battling through all weather conditions, hills etc over the past 10 days. Not to mention the physical an mental battles. . You have all raised so much money so far in honour of a wonderful man.
Thanks to the Glympse tracker and your excellent blogs, we have been able to come on this “LEJOG cycle ride for Vince” with you. And what a journey it has been! For ten days we followed the little triangle around, whilst it told us so much about you. We relaxed when it raced along about 20 plus mph, knowing the cycling was fairly easy. Then we groaned as you dropped to 3 or 4 mph, wondering how big the hill was. When we saw it stop in a layby or car park, we knew it was time for a pit stop, with some energy drink, a bit of chocolate and a massage from your fantastic back-up crew. We giggled as the triangle stopped in the wooden areas, what was that for????? Ahh, we know what you’re doing!!!!!
We waited for the blogs to arrive, and we read all about the wind, rain, lovely people, midges, punctures, fantastic scenery, meeting (or missing) your support crew, lovely silly dances, camaraderie with fellow cyclists, Chamois cream, that welcoming morning bowl of porridge, rule 5 (love it!), getting weather forecasts from Robin, (aka Mr Fish) and your emotional days, remembering dear Vince.
We have had everything, and how you coped at the end we do not know. We were just watching on the laptop, but our tears were flowing as the triangle moved ever closer to the finish. (Welling up now as as I think of it!!!) It was a magnificent achievement, and we salute Jeff, Ian, Robin, Joy, Julie, Jill and Jo. Thank you and God Bless you all. As we sign off for the last time, we say lots of love from Cherry and Geoff x x x x
"Well Done" is not nearly good enough to express the success of your fantastic achievement over the last eleven days. It must have taken so much dedication, self motivation and love to spur you on. I read everyone comments with great interest but I am sure that I can't have been the only one to have had tears in their eyes (and a snotty nose!) WELL DONE Jeff and Ian and well done everyone else on the team Luv from Luverley Aunty Brenda
Been away all Bank Hloiday so did not get the chance to comment but now I am back - WELL DONE TEAM. I am sure you will give me and the keep fit lads the "gory details" of the last days weather over a few beers Ian! This was a great achievment and I am a lttle envious of you. It is easy to talk about doing such a thing but a "different gether alltomatter" to do it and DO IT YOU DID. Mark from Snab End
The personal, individual thoughts here on your blog today (especially) were very emotional and moving.
It was gratifying to follow your trip every day, enjoying the stories of the ups and downs (literally). It was almost like being there, well maybe not..
